The King of Glory
By Willard F. Jabusch (1965). Latin parody by Dylan Schrader.
| The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices. |
Venit rex gloriae: gens eius laetatur. Portae aperiantur, vox audiatur! |
| Who is the King of glory; How shall we call him? He is Emmanuel, the promised of ages. |
Quis est rex gloriae, et quisnam vocatur? Ille Emmanuel, qui desideratur. |
| In all of Galilee, in city or village, He goes among his people, curing their illness. |
Tota in Galilaea, urbe vicoque, Aegros sanando suos pertransit ipse. |
| Sing then of David's Son, our Savior and Brother; In all of Galilee was never another. |
Qui David Filius, salvator et frater, Tota in Galilaea haud fuit alter. |
| He gave his life for us, the pledge of salvation; he took upon himself the sin of the nation. |
Animam posuit in pignus salutis, Sed et portavit ipse scelera gentis. |
| He conquered sin and death; he truly has risen. And he will share with us his heavenly vision. |
Resuscitatus victor mortis, peccati, Per quem speramus ut fiamus beati. |
