Dear framer of the starry clime, Your faithful’s light beyond all time, O Christ, Redeemer of us all, We beg you, hear us when we call. |
Qui cóndolens intéritu mortis períre sæculum, salvásti mundum lánguidum, donans reis remédium. |
You shared the grief of all mankind —An age to death and doom consigned— The weary world you came to save, To men condemned reprieve you gave. |
Vergénte mundi véspere, uti sponsus de thálamo, egréssus honestíssima Vírginis matris cláusula. |
As Bridegroom from his chamber come, When darkness fell and night wore on, You set your foot upon the earth, From Virgin shrine you had your birth. |
Cuius forti poténtiæ genu curvántur ómnia; cæléstia, terréstria nutu faténtur súbdita. |
To whose most dreadful might must bend All heav’n and earth, from end to end, Their knee unto your majesty, Their will unto to your sov’reignty. |
Te, Sancte, fide quæsumus, ventúre iudex sæculi, consérva nos in témpore hostis a telo pérfidi. |
To you, O Holy One, we pray, Who are to come on judgment day, When press on us the pow’rs of hell, The foe’s deceitful darts repel. |
